I'll compare these two companies side-by-side, assigning points to each company in a variety of categories (two points for each category). So, to make things a little easier, I decided to take an in-depth look at the two big names in audiobook production and distribution: Findaway Voices and ACX. Unfortunately, turning your eBook into an audiobook isn't quite as straightforward as publishing your manuscript to Amazon. And it's true the audiobook market has been doing extremely well, and will likely continue to do so. Click here to see the ACX Audiobook Production Standard Terms. If you're an indie author (or an aspiring one), you've probably heard all about how audiobooks are the next big thing. The ACX Audiobook Production Standard Terms set forth in greater detail the process for obtaining a Rights Holder’s approval of the finished audiobook. When everything is done, both parties will end up with a great, retail-ready audiobook. The audiobook Producer will consider the Rights Holder’s suggestions in good faith and make the requested changes, or, if needed, the Rights Holder and Producer can discuss the changes so that an agreement about what is best for the book can be reached. The Rights Holder then will need to approve the completed work, and can request two rounds of revisions. When done with recording, editing, and mastering, the Producer will upload each chapter of the audiobook to ACX's secure website. Once the revised first 15 minutes is approved, the Producer will complete the audiobook. The Rights Holder will then will need to approve the first 15 minutes or request some revisions. When the Producer is done recording and editing the 15 minute sample, they’ll upload it to ACX's secure website. It typically takes 3 to 8 weeks, depending on the length of the book and the Producer’s schedule. How long should it take to produce my audiobook?
